Job Overview:

A Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) performs routine clinical and clerical tasks under the direction of a physician or other health practitioner. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs, medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and assists with minor procedures as directed by a physician or health practitioner. The CMA acts as a practice ambassador contributing to overall patient experience, safety, and privacy.

Qualifications:

Required:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required

  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred or the ability and willingness to obtain certification from one of the following recognized organizations prior to hire: NHA, NCCT, AMT, AAMA, NCMA, AMCA, NAHP.

  • BLS Certification approved by AHA, required

  • At least 12 months of relevant experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

Essential Functions:

  • Taking vital signs

  • EKGS

  • Demonstrate proper telephone etiquette,

  • Demonstrate utilization of internal and external facility telecommunications,

  • Demonstrate ability to perform clerical functions,

  • Demonstrate coordination of PAT patient visit admission through discharge,

  • Demonstrate accurate review and transcription of Pre-Admission Testing order forms,

  • Demonstrate principles of positive guest relations,

  • Demonstrate effective communication with all members of health care team, patients and families,

  • Demonstrate compliance with established environment of care policy and procedure

  • Demonstrate effective management in emergency situation

  • Demonstrate ability to function in the role of MA to perform direct and in-direct patient care tasks in accordance with RWJBH policy and procedure

  • Good communication & interpersonal skills,

  • Flexible and adaptable,

  • Organized good time management skills,
