Job Overview:
The Clinical Instructor/Nursing Professional Development Practitioner provides for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education. Develops, implements, and validates initial and ongoing competencies alongside department leadership. Responsible for participating in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of education and training for hospital associates. Demonstrates effective teaching skills through appropriate instructional methodologies. Applies principles of adult learning theory when conducting programs. Facilitates professional role development and practice role transitions, including the RN Residency Program and Nursing Students. Educates and mentors nursing staff on quality improvement and evidence-based practice. Organizes multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously to accomplish goals. Visible and accessible to clinical staff. Additional duties and responsibilities as delegated within NPD Scope and Standards of Practice. Role requires flexibility, adaptability, and independent prioritization of responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate from an accredited school or university
  • Master's Degree Education, Nursing and/or Health Related Field or post-master's certificate in education
  • Five years in acute care clinical services
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

  • Two years in professional development/education
  • 2 years in professional development/education preferred
  • Nursing specialty certification preferred
  • NPD-BC (Nursing Professional Development Certificate) preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time
  • Day shift
  • Monday Friday
  • Between 6a - 4:30p (depending on the unit needs)
  • Must be flexible to work possible evenings
  • 37.5 hrs. weekly
  • Travel throughout RWJBH possible
