Job Title: Case Worker/Advocate (The Safe House)

Job Overview:

Provides coordinated, comprehensive case plan for victims of domestic violence for clients in shelter and non-residential clients at the Essex County Family Justice Center

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor s degree in Social Work or related Field preferred
  • Knowledge of dynamics of Domestic violence
  • 40 Domestic Violence Certificate (must be complete within 6 months of hire)
  • Ability to work in an emotionally charged environment
  • Ability to perform duties in an independent manner with little or no supervision

  • 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m

Essential Functions:

  • Provide a safe, non-judgmental and empowering environment to victims of domestic violence
  • Conduct an intake assessment within 24 hours of assigned case and implement a case plan based on identified client needs in shelter
  • Assist in assessing needs and develop a plan for non-residential clients at the
  • Essex County Family Justice Center referring clients to on-site partners if needed
  • Assist clients in achieving goals as developed in the case plan
  • Advocate for on clients behalf to other social services agencies
  • Responsible for providing direct services to clients
  • Provide crisis counseling, information and referral when answering the hotline
  • Maintain confidential and adequate clients records
  • Documents all hotline calls, incidents and observations
  • Attending all meetings and trainings related to job
  • Enters daily end of shift log for next staff person
  • Provides transportation as needed
  • Responsible for other duties assigned by the Program Director
