Director of Patient Care (RN) - Behavioral Health, RWJUniversity Hospital Somerset

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Director of Patient Care for our Behavioral Health Unit at RWJ University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, NJ. The Director of Patient Care is responsible for leading nursing operations within a collaborative interprofessional environment. This role emphasizes quality patient outcomes, effective communication, and adherence to organizational values. The director will oversee nursing practices, promote evidence-based care, and engage in strategic planning and budgeting to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required
• Current New Jersey RN Licensure required
• BLS required (American Heart Association)
• Previous nursing leadership experience in an inpatient behavioral health and/or crisis setting required

Preferred:

• Master of Science degree in Nursing preferred
• Board certification in nursing leadership and/or behavioral health preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

• Full Time, 40 hours per week

Essential Functions:

• Oversee the delivery of high-quality patient care in the behavioral health unit
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies
• Develop and implement clinical protocols and best practices
• Lead staff training and professional development initiatives
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create individualized treatment plans
• Monitor patient outcomes and evaluate the effectiveness of care strategies
• Manage budgets, staffing, and resource allocation
• Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers
• Address patient and staff concerns effectively and promptly
• Promote a safe and therapeutic environment for patients
• Participate in strategic planning and quality improvement initiatives
• Unit staff includes RN's, Mental Health Assistants (MHAs), Patient Care Associates (PCA) & Unit Secretaries
