Director Patient Care (RN) Mental Health Open-Unit Full Time Days

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for our Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NJ. With over 700 physicians and 2,100 employees, we offer advanced treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions. In 2017, the Medical Center completed a state-of-the-art campus expansion featuring a new four-story 87,000 square foot building with a private, 32 bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area and newly expanded Emergency Department

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited school
• Minimum of 3 years experience in Behavioral Health
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
• Maintains current BEST training; obtains within 3 months of initial assignment

Preferred:

• MSN from an accredited school

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Current Registered Nurse License in the State of New Jersey
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
• Certifications as required by law, stature, and/or regulation for area or specialization

Scheduling Requirements:

• Day Shift, 40 hours a week
• Full-Time
• Monday Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotation

Essential Functions:

• Provides 24 hour accountability for patient care delivery
• Ensures that quality nursing care is delivered to all patients on his/her nursing unit in accordance with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital
• Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation and continuing education
• Evaluates staff performance in accordance with organizational policies
• Develops, implements and maintains unit budget,
• Participates in nursing quality assurance
• Maintains unit administration including scheduling and maintains of supplies and equipment
• Uses and understands the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
• Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services
• Promotes quality of patient care through the following: Develops/revises plan for patient care delivery in assigned areas; Identifies and corrects actual/potential problems; Recommends/selects appropriate indicators to measure performance; Implements and enforces the national patient safety goals; Communicates QA & PI findings as required
