Job Overview:
Responsible for the preparation, set-up, troubleshooting and coordination of services and repair for all clinical equipment in the Operating Room. Participates in the care, preparation and maintenance of equipment and supplies in the OR. Participates in the set-up, opening and breakdown of a case in the OR.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited high school BLS certification required.
- Knowledge of computer systems preferred.
- Must possess excellent manual dexterity and excellent hearing and visual acuity. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must perform duties effectively in stressful/emergency situations.
- Must work independently and complete assignments with minimal supervision.

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):
Essential Functions:
- Assists the nurse with personal needs of the patient such as changing gowns, blankets, cleansing and positioning.
- Assures all equipment is properly checked by the Biomedical Department (i.e. sticker and appropriate date) and acts as a liaison with Biomed regarding product recalls.
- Bipolar Units Check all maintenance inspection labels. Ensures bipolar foot pedals are available. Ensure cord adapter is available for each unit.
- Castle Sterilizers Run cycles Ensures all components are functioning properly Perform preventative maintenance
- Checks all surgical video equipment and associated accessories for proper operation prior to use and after use.
- Coordinates the repair and maintenance of equipment with the appropriate personnel; Biomedical Engineering, Materials Management, Maintenance, etc.
- Demonstrates correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to the specific product information and the Medical Center s policies and procedures
- Maintains full knowledge of surgical equipment and associated accessories used in the Operating Room.
- Is aware of controls and equipment availability, status and follow up and communicates to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains the appropriate working condition of equipment.
- Neurosurgery Microscope Ensures all components of unit are present. Balance and transport of microscope.
