Job Overview:

The Financial Analyst supports the AVP by providing key operational functions to identify opportunities and minimize risk. The Financial Analyst position plays a key role within the health system by ensuring all steps are taken to clear accounts from EPIC edits. A core function of this position is to ensure that claim edits are minimized, and we can generate a clean claim.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • College degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years in Patient Access or Revenue Cycle role
  • Knowledge of Billing edits
  • Knowledge of EPIC WQ s
  • Advanced Excel experience required
  • Medical terminology and computer skills

Preferred:

  • Masters degree

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift
  • 8am to 4:30pm
  • Mon- Fri
  • Full-Time

Essential Functions:

  • The Financial Analyst provides direct and indirect support to department by analyzing data to identify issues and opportunities, claim edits, denials and improve processes
  • The Financial Analyst has in-depth knowledge of billing/charge capture edits, protocols for confirming the clinical services rendered and minimizing financial risk
  • The Financial Analyst has extensive knowledge of revenue cycle billing edits and is able to clearly understand and articulate with clinical and non-clinical staff
  • Provides excellent customer service to all patients, colleagues and other external and internal customers
  • Ensures work queues are worked timely and accurately based on coding/billing guidelines
  • Works closely and leads discussions with Clinic/Ancillary department to clear pending claims
  • Coordinates with the CBO, Revenue Integrity, HIM, IT, etc to resolve complex issues that are holding claims
  • Follows up with departments on missing documentation that supports the services provided
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the entire pre-admission, registration, and revenue cycle clearance processes
  • Demonstrates initiative and motivation in role; proactively identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner and escalates issues to leadership when necessary
  • Utilize system generated reports to analyze data and identify trends
  • Researches and maintains statistics on all errors or inconsistencies that exist
  • Assist with denial trends and assist with determine root cause, identify issues and areas of opportunity
  • Meets and exceeds department goals including accuracy and productivity
  • Create tracking and trending reports and identifies the financial risk for each area
  • Provide summary findings and recommendations to leadership teams
  • Assist with creating action plans to address and resolve issues
  • Audit and review workflow, patient processing and quality standards
  • Researches and maintains statistics on all errors or inconsistencies that exist
  • Participate in training through the development of training tools, presentations at department in-services or staff meetings
  • Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude
  • Works closely and professionally with clinical staff and ancillary departments to foster a team environment
