Job Overview:

The manager of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Community Health Promotion Program oversees all community health promotion program planning, implementation, and evaluation to address community health needs. They manage budgets, lead teams, and ensure initiatives are culturally competent and evidence-based. Building partnerships with community organizations, securing funding, and advocating for health equity are key responsibilities, along with monitoring outcomes and aligning programs with hospital policies and public health standards.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master s Degree in a healthcare discipline
  • Experience working with the community

Preferred:

  • Previous community education experience strongly preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Together with Program Coordinators develop all community health education classes/seminars/programs
  • Evaluate community programs and implements needed changes in curricula to meet the needs of the community
  • Oversee all aspects of programs or events from program development to logistics, (seeking AV, set up, etc, securing speakers)
  • Work with Health Education Program Coordinator to sustain and maintain support groups and oversee maintenance of databases
  • In conjunction with Director, seek additional funding from foundations and pharmaceutical companies to support and enhance community programs
  • Assist with development and monitoring of department budget and financial activities
  • Supervise department employees and volunteers
  • Work closely with Director to develop an annual educational plan that includes goals and objectives and budgets for wellness center
  • In conjunction with Program Coordinator, develop and implement health promotion programs and initiatives that promote fitness, nutrition and wellness in the targeted communities
  • In conjunction with the Health Education Program Coordinator and maintain a monthly calendar of events
  • Develop and maintain a computer-based Speakers Bureau to assist with the identification of local health professionals to conduct and facilitate seminars and educational initiatives
  • In conjunction with Director and AVP Health Equity, develop and maintain a Medical Advisory Board
  • Work with Program Coordinator and other staff to promote community programs.
  • Initiate and update educational materials regularly
  • Work with Community Education Coordinator to distribute PowerPoint slides highlighting support groups and special programs
  • Regularly provide Public Relations with information regarding special events and programs for promotion to the media
  • Maintain database of organizations, schools, churches and senior citizens for target mailings to promote upcoming events
  • In conjunction with Director, conduct periodic needs assessment collaborating with other hospital departments and other community organizations to develop programs that address community health needs in compliance with IRS guidelines
  • In conjunction to the CHIP Coordinator, coordinate all aspects of the work of the Healthier Middlesex Consortium including needs assessments, prioritization of needs, development of a plan and in carrying out the objectives outlined in the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP)
  • Work with community partners to further define the scope of CHIP deliverables, and determine key performance indicators, monitor CHIP progress and report status to the CHIP Steering Committee and the community at large
  • Seek funding opportunities to support the activities outlined in the CHIP
  • Bill outside hospital programs as agreed per contract
  • Supervise registration fees, deposits and attendance of classes/courses as per hospital policy
  • Pay all per diem staff for their class instruction times
  • Handle all bills for the community education program
  • In conjunction with Program Director, initiate and monitor existing grants
  • Ensure CBISA database is kept current with relevant community program costs and volumes
