Mental Health Screener, Emergency Screening

Job Overview:

The Mental Health Screener provides crisis assessments for adults and children in the psychiatric emergency room.

Qualifications:

Required:

• MSW with a specialization in Mental Health, or MA in Mental Health disciplines
  • One year post-master's experience in a psychiatric setting

Or:

• BA in Mental Health disciplines
  • Three years full-time post-bachelor experience, 1 of which is in a crisis acute setting
• Clean driver's license as determined by the employer, and validated by the state MVA in which the employee resides

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Certification eligible as a Screener by the State of New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Hospitals
  • Must obtain screening license through DMHAS within one year of hire

Scheduling Requirements:

• Shift working, 12am-8am
• Full-time

Essential Functions:

• Screen adults for involuntary hospitalization
• Develop treatment and disposition planning in the least restrictive setting, including wrap around DC supports if discharged
• Consult and coordinate with internal and external team members and MDs to mitigate danger and ensure safety
• Provide community based screening and crisis mobile outreach at affiliated emergency rooms and in the community for adults
