Patient Access Representative I

Job Overview:

The Patient Access Representative position plays a key role in the health system and in providing excellent customer service while ensuring timely throughput and capturing all necessary data timely. The Patient Access Representative is responsible to greet all patients in a timely and friendly manner.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma
• Customer service experience

Preferred:

• Work experience in patient registration preferred
• Knowledge in all aspects of registration, Non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care Medical terminology and computer skills

Scheduling Requirements:

• Shift working: Days 8:00am-4:30pm
• Monday through Friday
• Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week

Essential Functions:

• Collects and verifies patient s demographic and insurance information, completing necessary paperwork, and entering data into electronic medical record
• Ensures accurate patient registration for billing purposes
• Greets patients timely and courteously in a professional manner
• Obtains necessary signatures during registration
• Verifies insurance by running verification software or calls insurance company as necessary
• Schedules new and follow-up appointments as needed
• Demonstrates the ability to collect the required co-pay / fees and provide receipts accurately
• Scans documentation as needed into the medical record in an accurate and timely fashion
• Clears any registration alerts by end of business day and maintains accurate registration records
• Coordinates timely appointments related to transition of care needs post discharge for both medicine and specialty providers working in the Transition of Care department
• Other duties as assigned
