Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Patient Sitter.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Attendance of Patient Safety Class
  • Good communication skills.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem Day

Essential Functions:

  • Patient sitters provide key assistance with patients who require special precautions. Sitters are responsible for remaining with the assigned patient at all times during their assigned shift except when relieved by staff for break and meal times; and are expected to remain awake, alert and observant to prevent injury or escape.
  • Sitters are also expected to comply with hospital policies on confidentiality, infection control and compassionate care. Adherence to patient restrictions and ability to appropriately manage aggressive, violent, and confused behavior required.
  • While sitters provide a key assist to the nursing staff, they are not to perform any form of direct patient care. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.
