RWJBH Food Hub Director - Newark, NJ

Job Overview:

This role will oversee the newly launching RWJBH Food Hub located in Newark, NJ. The Food Hub Director will oversee a multi-use space centered around local food aggregation, nutrition education, social service access and community connectivity. The Director will be responsible for collaboration with the hub s aggregation center leadership to ensure cohesion as we work towards shared goals. The Director will set the tone to lead a team of compassionate individuals operating an innovative space highlighting the intersection between healthcare and local NJ farmers, growers and makers. This is a unique role and we are looking for an enthusiastic and visionary team leader who is passionate about making healthy food available to the community members we serve. This is a grant funded position until 2025 year-end, strong possibility of future extensions.

Qualifications:

Required:

• BS/BA required
• The ideal candidate for this position is familiar with key community partners, stakeholders and the general food landscape of the Greater Newark Area.
• This position requires excellent organizational, operational, interpersonal and leadership skills. Additionally, this individual will be solution driven, self-motivated and empathetic.
• The candidate best suited for this role will have a background in public health, operations and/or business.
• Flexibility to work expanded hours as needed.

Preferred:

• MS/MPH/Registered Dietitian preferred
• Food safety certificate, ServSafe Manager level or equivalent.

Essential Functions:

• Oversight of multidisciplinary team members stationed at the Food Hub including Registered Dietitians, Community Health Workers, front office staff and aggregation center staff.
• Collaborate with the hub s produce/food aggregation center leadership.
• Collection of data and additional reporting metrics for monthly departmental and state reporting
• Maintain and foster new relationships with community partner organizations and key stakeholders
• Food Hub budget management and reporting
• Local and state level agency compliance
