Job Overview:

To respond to calls from physician offices, patients, and other ambulatory services in a courteous and tactful manner to schedule hospital wide services such as, Beds, Radiology, SDS Admissions, Laboratory, etc, onto On-line scheduling system to provide optimal access to these services. Enter demographic, diagnostic and financial data based on the criteria established by the department to ensure complete and accurate information. Distributes preliminary and final department schedules to appropriate department, updating information as required ensuring communication throughout various disciplines.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 1-2 years in an Operating Room setting as a Scheduler/Unit Secretary or a Patient Access Census Management environment,
  • Well developed interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and communicate with persons of varying acuities
  • Must be able to work with the public and maintain poise under difficult, confrontational situations
  • Knowledge of medical technology
  • Excellent typing and computer skills
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize work

Preferred:

  • Bilingual preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift- 9:00am-5:00pm
  • Monday-Friday
  • Full Time

Essential Functions:

  • To respond to calls from physician offices, patients, and/or other ambulatory services in a courteous and tactful manner to schedule hospital wide services such as, Beds, Radiology, SDS Admissions, Laboratory, etc. onto On-line scheduling system to provide optimal access to these services
  • To enter demographic, diagnostic and financial data based on the criteria established by the department to ensure complete and accurate information
  • To keep informed of changes as they relate to scheduling in physicians schedules, service priorities and procedure requirement issues to ensure optimal use of the Operating Room and other ancillary scheduled services
  • To keep abreast of and inform physicians or designee of necessary insurance requirements and charges
  • To review, edit, and update department schedules to on-line system to ensure accuracy and appropriate utilization of Providers, rooms, or available time
  • Distributes preliminary and final department schedules to appropriate department, updating information as required ensuring communication throughout various disciplines
  • To support the hospitals Continuous Quality Improvement Programs through systems improvement participation including attendance at scheduled in-service and meeting.
  • Performs other related duties as required
