Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Manager, the Secretary assists in the planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the activities by performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment of the area.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma
  • Prior patient insurance authorization and verification experience
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including Word and Excel and the ability to multi-task successfully
  • Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and demonstrated writing skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with EPIC
  • College degree

Scheduling Requirements

  • Shift: Day
  • Time: 7:00a.m. - 3:00p.m.
  • Status: Full Time (37.5 hrs.)

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with scheduling patients
  • Assist with answering the phone
  • Call to verify insurance company whenever a patient s insurance changes or when a new patient is pre-registered
  • Assist with obtaining insurance authorizations for infusion center treatments
  • Schedule patient appointments
    • Cancer Center new patients and follow ups
    • Infusion Center
  • Patient insurance coverage verification
    • Verify treatment authorization for patients from insurance provider
  • Answer telephone and professionally direct questions directly related to department to appropriate persons
  • Coordinates review of denied billing
  • Attend departmental meetings
  • Additional duties as assigned
