Job Overview:

RWJBH Behavioral Health Center is seeking a MSW/LSW to work in the inpatient units providing psychosocial assessments, group therapy, treatment planning, and discharge planning to adult patients who are experiencing behavioral health issues. The candidate will be a member of an interdisciplinary team including Psychiatrists, Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, and Adjunct Therapist.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master s Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university

Preferred:

  • Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC)

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Licensed by the New Jersey Board of Social Workers

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 8:30am - 5:00pm
  • Monday - Friday
  • Full-Time

Essential Functions:

  • Provides family counseling session whenever possible or clinically indicated
  • Participates in monthly Social Work meetings with the Director of Inpatient Social Services
  • Participates in and assists in the development of the interdisciplinary treatment planning process
  • Short term counseling; to assist patient in identifying adaptive means of coping through individual and group therapy
  • Reviews discharge planning options and evaluates alternatives with patient and their significant others to enhance their acceptance of plans
  • Establishes rapport with family or significant other whenever possible or clinically indicated
  • Involve patient s family or significant other in formulator
  • Implements the policies and procedures of the Behavioral Health facility
  • Performs interventions in accordance with current policy and procedure
  • Safety guidelines and infection control principles
  • Facilitates access to community agencies by providing referrals and information to patients
  • Their significant others, community agencies and other community members advocating for patients when necessary
  • Intervenes with patients and their significant others to enhance their intervenes with patients and their significant others to enhance their ability to cope with mental illness,
  • Hospitalization; post-hospital care needs, and lifestyle changes
  • Assesses patient's psychological social, medical and substance abuse issues through direct patient interview or interview/ contact with patients' significant others with respect to their current needs to establish appropriate post-program care plans and any services that may be necessary while patient is in treatment
  • Other duties as assigned
