Job Overview:

Assists the Director of Patient Care and the staff nurses by performing specific clerical functions for assigned areas.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School graduate
  • Successful completion of all orientation Programs

Preferred:

  • Clerical Experience to include typing and filing preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift- 7:00am- 3:00pm
  • Monday-Friday including every other weekends/holidays
  • Part Time

Essential Functions:

  • Answer telephones properly and relays information to appropriate person
  • Assembles and disassembles designated charts appropriately
  • Assist nurses by picking up and delivering blood, blood derivatives, specimens, medications and charts as required
  • Assists as directed with PI activities such as data collections
  • Ensures a safe environment in aspects of care, equipment and treatment
  • Identifies and reports potential and actual patient safety issues
  • Keeps medical record complete and in order
  • Maintains communication with the Bed Controller and cooperates with room assignments
  • Notifies appropriate departments of patient expirations and attached death certificate to medical record for attending MD signatures
  • Notifies nurse upon arrival of an admission- direct admission-ensures all parts of patient records are properly identified by use of patient identification lab
  • Participates in unit based patient satisfaction
  • Hourly rounding-inpatients rooms, assist patients as needed water, get assistance
  • Greeting patients and family on admissions
  • Answer call bells as needed
  • Assist in discharge process
  • Performs environmental rounds on a daily basis, including patient and non-patients areas
  • Performs required clerical work relating to the admissions, transfer and discharge of a patient
  • Secures needed unit services as directed by Director of Patient Care and/or Assistant Director of Patient Care (e.g., maintenance, housekeeping, security)

Pay Range:

$17.18 an hour
